I am sharing this because this has literally changed my prayer and worship life. A few things for context… “getting closer to God”, “reading the Word”… alldat is ALWAYS within my goals for the new year. Well, in more ways than one, I am proud to say that at the halfway point of this year… I am doing quite well. And I share this because as tough as 2020 has been, I feel more grounded than ever!
I am taking this initial post to just dive right in. Within the first post, I just want to take the opportunity to share some of the things that I am currently doing to just live more Christ-like and to be more in tune with God’s word. I know that the words here won’t speak to everyone. In your personal walk, some of you are well beyond what I have offered here and from you, I would love and appreciate your direction, your support, and your feedback. My purpose is to reach those of us who may feel stuck, unmotivated, unsure, and maybe even a little weary on the journey. It is my hope that you will stick around to read (or listen—coming soon ) some of the content and that you might feel motivated to do and be just a little bit more… and of course, watch God do some extraordinary things in your life.
For all, I hope that you will stick around and begin to understand how after nearly a year of private journaling, I am taking steps to make this thing PUBLIC. The short of it is that I truly feel led by God to make this something that has the potential to reach beyond anything I can imagine.
So let’s just dive on in!
- Receiving the Word- So this thing started with a good friend sending me the link to the Transformation Church Podcast Thanks J-Money! I was so surprised when I first joined the podcast that there were so many episodes! I decided to jump right into the new year’s services. I listened to my first Podcast on January 20, 2020. It was perfect because I felt as if I could listen at my own pace and on my own time. A lot of times, instead of listening to the music on my trips from Warrenton to Milledgeville, I would decide to listen to the church service. It just became such an easy way to receive the word, especially when I was not regularly attending church services If you didn’t know… check it out! You will not be sorry. Some people watch the church service on YouTube or Facebook but I listen to the Podcast (check out some other podcasts too while you’re at it—don’t worry I’ll post soon about some other awesome podcasts I’m into these days.)
- Reading the Word- I honestly didn’t really know how to start reading my Bible. For about three years straight I would begin the year going to the book of Genesis and I had good intentions to read the Bible chronologically. No complaints though, I could probably win some trivia coins on my knowledge of Genesis! No one told me that the book would have meaning no matter WHERE I started. Thankfully, I found a 30-day prayer journaling guide on Pinterest. BTW, my love for Pinterest is on a whole-nutha level, but that’s for another time! Truthfully, I started the journaling guide in March…March 21 to be exact. I finished this 30-day plan only a few days ago. Lol, I said TRUTHFULLY. I do not read every day, sometimes a few days go by before I pick up the Good Book again, but I am realizing the longer I go without the word… the more off-track my thinking…my life becomes (that topic is also for another post). All in all, I highly encourage you to check this out no matter where you are on your spiritual journey and no matter how long it takes you to finish… finish this plan. You will be so happy you did. I also encourage you to truly take your time to reflect on the verses as you read…. and write down some things that really resonate with you. I think you will find each day very, incredibly fulfilling.
- Worship and Praise- Tasha Cobb Pandora Radio station is a must! Lol yes, I still listen to Pandora and I love it! Of course because I “thumbs up” one sermon of his, it now has a lot of short sermons by Smokie Norful on it too which I appreciate. I mean, this is really what I listen to THE MOST. Of course, I break out some Ella Mai, R&B, Afro Pop, and you know… today’s music because #GoodGirlwithaHoodPlaylist and #SavedbutwillKnuckifyouBuck but ultimately, even when I am not reading, I am using this music as my time to reflect, worship and just praise God! It has allowed me to put some intentionality into my worship time and to truly put all of my focus and energy into the here and now.

So again, why a blog? Why share this thing so publically?
I am sharing this because idk….
- Wherever you are in life, whatever you’ve done or wherever you desire to be, God is waiting with open arms… it’s not too late. So if you had this on your “new year, new me” or you have had a deep desire to move closer to God but you feel that there have been obstacles blocking your progress, I hope that at least one of these resources and this blog… would be helpful for you. I am sure there are more resources and I look forward to sharing some other specific things that I’m doing in this season. Also, I look forward to others sharing with me some of the things that have encouraged them along the way.
- I hope to use whatever influence I have through the power of social media to not receive anything, but to share the grace and God and to encourage you in ways that will allow you to see how He can move in your life too! I want to say that I did not start off with the idea of sharing this so publicly. This was supposed to be a simple Facebook post, but it was getting quite long. So here it is… something that I truly believe was heaven sent…and as I write those words, I already feel the good works that this can do, how many people this has the potential to reach… and that is my way of honoring God… being able to share!
- One of the resources that I have desired along this journey is a community of warriors… and well, personal accountability. So as much as I think and write (and hopefully speak soon…podcast??) I am also willing to listen and learn from YOU! So, I guess this is my way of helping create that community for those who also have similar desires. I am truly excited about what God has in store for this blog.
